Blackhawk at Lazy Gators

Blackhawk will be Live in Concert at Lazy Gators on Saturday, September 21st!  It is going to be an incredible night on the main channel of the Lake of the Ozarks!  This will be our last concert of 2019 and we are sending the summer off is style with country legends, Blackhawk!  (This is a 21+ show) For more than 20 years, BlackHawk has shared a unique sense of harmony with their voices, their songs and their fans. It’s a harmony that has sold over 7 million albums, scored some of the most distinctive country radio hits of the ‘90s, and still draws tens of thousands of fans to their electrifying live performances. Today BlackHawk continues to honor its past as it forges its future, and does it all with a commitment that takes their music – and the harmony – to a whole new level. “When we started,” says BlackHawk co-founder & lead vocalist Henry Paul, “our individual careers as writers and performers gave us somewhat of a more creative sensibility. We were three guys whose goal was to approach country with smart songs and unique harmonies for people who may not automatically like country.” Paul had previously co-founded Southern Rock legends The Outlaws, as well as leading the popular ‘80s rockers The Henry Paul Band. Van Stephenson had mainstream pop success as an ‘80s singer-songwriter-guitarist (“Modern Day Delilah”). And Dave Robbins had written hits for Eric Clapton and Kenny Rogers while partnering with Stephenson to write a series of classic #1 hits for Restless Heart, including “The Bluest Eyes In Texas” and “Big Dreams In A Small Town”. “Even though the three of us had a love and appreciation for traditional country music,” says Dave, “we knew we weren’t going to be that. Henry was coming from Southern Rock, Van & I were in Nashville, but were writing country songs with pop sensibilities. When it came to our vocals, we wanted the three of us to be up front in the choruses like Crosby, Stills & Nash or The Eagles. What set us apart from the very beginning musically was being true to who we were individually.” BlackHawk’s 1993 self-titled Arista debut album launched with the smash single “Goodbye Says It All”, followed by the Top 5 hits "Every Once in a While", "I Sure Can Smell the Rain", "Down in Flames" and "That's Just About Right". The album soon certified Double-Platinum, and the band received an ACM nomination as Best New Vocal Group Of The Year. BlackHawk followed up with the hit albums Strong Enough, Love & Gravity and Sky’s The Limit, which collectively featured such hits as “I’m Not Strong Enough To Say No”, “Like There Ain’t No Yesterday”, “Big Guitar”, “Almost A Memory Now”, “There You Have It” and “Postmarked Birmingham”. It was an unprecedented run of hits for a band that never quite fit the standard country mold. “Getting a BlackHawk record on the radio was often a tough sell,” explains Henry, “for the same reason country radio rejected bands like The Mavericks, The Dixie Chicks and Alison Krauss. But we were committed to smart, strong songs whether they fit the format or not. And the fans responded.” But at the height of the trio’s success in 1999, Van Stephenson was diagnosed with an aggressive form of melanoma. “Van’s contribution to the group was enormous,” Henry says. “He could be a tremendously gifted songwriter and a deeply spiritual guy. We found ourselves at a crossroads as a band, and it would have been an easy time for country music to count us out.” “Two days before Van passed away, Henry and I went to visit him,” Dave remembers. “Van was in a wheelchair at this point, and we took him for a stroll around his neighborhood. We spent the morning just talking, reminiscing about our career and good times together. Towards the end of our visit, Van said ‘I’ve got two things to ask of you guys. First, do what you can to help raise awareness and find a cure for this thing. The other is, don’t quit. There’s still a lot of great music left in BlackHawk.’” Since Van’s death on April 8th, 2001, the band and its fans have raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for The Van Stephenson Memorial Cancer Fund at Nashville’s Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. Henry and Dave regrouped and soon returned to the album charts with their Greatest Hits – dedicated to Van and featuring his final track “Ships Of Heaven” – as well as 2002’s Spirit Dancer and 2011’s Down From The Mountain, along with a touring schedule that brought the music to fans like never before. “Our audiences today are often full of 18 to 30 years olds,” says Dave. “They listened to us as kids, and still have a love for the music we made. That’s a big part of what propels us to keep creating as writers and performers.” For the fans, for the music and for the brotherhood of Henry and Dave, harmony remains a powerful force. BlackHawk continues to record new music – including their well-received 2015 Brothers Of The Southland album, a forthcoming Christmas record and an acoustic greatest hits album – and deliver stellar live shows, backed by an all-star band of veteran country and southern rock players. “BlackHawk has a 20-year history of a certain kind of song craft as well as a quality of performance,” Henry says with pride. “People have always come to our shows expecting a concert that is emotionally and musically engaging, and the band still sounds even better than the records, night after night, show after show. When we take the stage, we work as hard as we ever have. We owe it the music, we owe it to ourselves, and Van, and we owe it to the fans. Now more than ever, that’s the true legacy of BlackHawk.”

Curt Fletcher in Lake Ozark

Curt Fletcher knew he wanted to be a comedian in 1984. Comedy was everywhere, clubs were opening all over the country. The only problem, Curt was just four-years-old. He took the stage for the first time several years later in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at Laffs Comedy Club, where he quickly became a local favorite. Drawing comparisons to Steven Wright and the late Mitch Hedberg, crowds love his well-crafted one-liners. Curt has appeared at some of the biggest clubs in the country with some of the biggest names of comedy including; Jim Norton, Kyle Kinane, Harland Williams, T.J. Miller, Carl LaBove, Josh Blue, Chris Porter, Theo Von, Jackie Kashian, Dan Soder, Finesse Mitchell, Dante, and Brian Posehn. He advanced to the semifinals of the HBO Lucky 21 competition. He was also selected for the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas and the Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta. Curt also advanced to the semifinals in the Funniest Person in LA contest. In 2007, Curt performed for the University of New Mexico football team as part of their bowl game festivities. The Lobos beat Colin Kaepernick’s Nevada team 23-0, Curt thinks it’s because of him. In 2006, he made his acting debut starring in independent film, Mismatch.com. The movie was selected for the Santa Fe Film Festival and Sin Fronteras Film Festival. Curt’s television debut in 2010 on the late-night talk show, The After After Party, hosted by Steven Michael Quezada (Breaking Bad). He’s appeared on the show four times. He also appeared on The Morning Brew with Friends. Curt co-wrote The Consequences of a Feeble Mind, with Marc Shuter (The Bigfoot Election). The screenplay was selected as a finalist in the Write Movies International Screenplay Contest and the StoryPros Screenplay Contest. It was also a semifinalist in the Creative World Awards Screenplay Contest, Circus Road Screenplay Contest, Screenplayfestival, and Final Draft’s Big Break Contest. He was also a writer for the AVN Awards on Showtime in 2014. “I highly, highly recommend this show as I believe him to be one of the finest writers and unique performers in the country. Tim Northern In Osage Beach Mo

Tim is 6'3", 200 pounds of a manly man with what is often described as an obscure sense of humor. He is articulate, smart and deceptively witty, but most importantly he's funny. The combination of his gruff exterior and his easy on the ears style could be catastrophic, but this mixture works well. His opening line 'I love y'all' leaves audiences wondering what's next. They soon realize he's sincere. Tim is a regular performer on the national comedy club circuit. He performed as the opening act for Rodney Carrington in Honky Tonks all over the country from February 1999 through July 2000. Tim performed at the Chicago Comedy Festival 2002 as part of the Fresh Mugs Showcase and showcased for the 2003 Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. In the spring of 2003, Tim was chosen to appear on CBS’s Star Search where he advanced to the Finals. Timm Northern is a 25 year Pro Headliner. Christine Stedman One Night

Christine can best be described as one funny mother! She has a husband, a twenty-something son who lives at home, a divorced daughter and three grand-kids. This gives her a full portfolio of material to draw from. A lot of people ask Chris why she began a career in comedy so late in life. Well, it’s not a coincidence that she started immediately after her daughter began having babies! Chris does not like to baby-sit! Sure, traveling around the country telling jokes to drunks in smoky nightclubs was not the most practical way to get out of baby-sitting, but she decided it was definitely worth a try. (It was either that, or go to truck-driving school and she hates the way she looks in flannel shirts! ) So far, this desperate attempt to distance herself from family obligations has worked out quite nicely. She’s come a long way from her early years in comedy. She currently headlines in some of the top clubs in the country and has become a favorite at “The Comedy Stop” in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. In 2006, she was chosen to compete in Nick at Nite’s Search for the Funniest Mom in America. She appeared in six episodes and made it all the way to the finale where it came down to only 5 finalists. Ok, she didn’t win----but just ask anyone who has seen her perform and they will tell you that she is definitely one funny mother! General Admission - $15.00

Andy Hartley Headliner

Andy Hartley can be described as funny, clean, and has embarrassingly small fingers. He is no stranger to the stage. During his high school days, into college, and beyond, he has performed in front of numerous audiences for music and theatre. After winning a college playwriting contest, Andy's original production made national news in USA Today. Along with theatre, Andy Hartley also has been seen on television; playing a role in the sitcom, "The Old College Try," several TV commercials, and a few small roles in film, including a scene in "Molly's Girl," as seen on Netflix. After leaving Iowa to pursue his passion for live performance in Los Angeles, Andy quickly became a comic on the rise towards a successful career. Now, he performs all over the country, including clubs, bars, theatres, and corporate events. Hartley has also been seen on LaughsTV on Fox, The World Series of Comedy, Comedy Contest Finalist, Betty White's “Off Their Rockers” (Lifetime Channel), USAToday (National news), Commercials, Molly's Girl (Netflix), KCCI Channel 8 News, Waterloo Courier, The Des Moines Register, & continues to add to his resume!
