Local History Workshop – Published Works: a guide to secondary sources


Our third in a series of four Local History Workshops are designed to introduce researchers to different aspects of local history research. In this workshop, our Local History Officer and Assistant Archivist will focus on secondary (printed) sources available in the Archives and Local & Family History department, and introduce participants to some of the most useful online resources for local history research. An understanding of these resources is essential to any local history project and this workshop will provide a solid foundation for anyone wishing to undertake archival research using primary sources. Come along to learn more about our newspaper archive, dating back to 1808; our printed maps collection; local history images; our 30,000 (and growing) collection of local history publications and more.

Scottish Enterprise have worked with specialist China training agency, Capela China, to devise a series of sector specific cultural awareness sessions for those looking to attract more Chinese visitors or be better equipped to welcome those who are already visiting. Day 2 - Pain & Symptom Management in Palliative & End of Life Care


This course is delivered by the MacMillan Nurse Practice Educators, Cornhill Day 2 addresses core aspects of symptom management to enable someone to live well until they die. Recognising changes in the individual’s condition and identifying care needs. We explore: assessment and management of pain fatigue breathlessness nausea and vomiting confusion/delirium last days of life Discusses the importance of bereavement care planning prior to death.
