A gripping true story of humanity and heroism, “Hotel Mumbai” vividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Among the dedicated hotel staff is the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award-Nominee Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire) who choose to risk their lives to protect their guests. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer and Nazanin Boniadi) is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child. Summer Leadership Series

“Shifting From ‘Survive’ To ‘Thrive’: Foundations For Enhancing Engagement in Your Business” Times, they are changing.  The competition has become stiffer as choices increase, and it’s not just about choices for your clients.  Your most valued and effective staff members and leaders are being actively targeted by other employers, and while more money can be a factor, it’s often not the biggest driver in their decisions.  Strong connections to the people and culture in an organization, a solid understanding of how their individual roles fit into the mission and vision of the business, clearly communicated opportunity for personal growth and professional advancement, and feeling truly valued for their contributions, on all levels, are driving the decisions your people are making each and every day. Highly engaged team members are more productive, less likely to leave, actively promote your business, and are much more effective in contributing to the success of your business.  Driving high levels of engagement takes a great deal of sustained effort over an extended period of time, but there are foundational pieces that, when present, make the process much easier to navigate. In this 2019 Summer Leadership Series, over the course of five sessions, we’ll dive deep into each of those foundational attributes of an organization that can impact engagement.  We’ll also analyze how your business is positioned with each one, offer compelling reasons for changes and enhancements, and put your specific organization into a better position to “thrive” going forward! Tickets may be purchased for the entire series, or as individual sessions. Session #1 - Mission & Vision - Clarity Drives Commitment June 6, 2019 8:30am - 10:30am A business’ mission and vision frame the foundation upon which all decisions are made, priorities are defined, and strategies are developed.  Business owners and senior leaders should constantly assess their mission & vision statements to confirm proper alignment with their daily work efforts. Prework For Participants  Come ready to share and discuss your businesses’ mission and vision statements Discuss core products, services, and other key business functions and how they relate to or reflect aspects of the mission or vision Goals  Determine the attributes and characteristics of strong mission and vision statements Evaluate the quality of the participants’ mission & vision statements in light of their individual business product and service inventory, operating culture, and competition Establish a firm understanding of how mission and vision assist with establishing culture and values in a business and how this creates the necessary foundation for driving high levels of engagement, at all levels Discuss how this discussion transitions into the next foundational aspect of driving engagement - Communication & Branding Session #2 - Communication & Branding - Simple, Consistent & Honest June 19, 2019 8:30am - 10:30am “Walking the talk” is critical, but is it even possible when your “talk” is complicated with jargon, too vague, unclear and/or unspecific, or even worse, not truly reflective of what is actually going on in your business?  Ensuring that ALL of your messaging and communication, both internal and external, is simple, consistent, honest, and firmly aligned to your mission, vision, and values, are critical for building an environment where engagement can grow. Prework For Participants  Collect some examples of communication utilized in your business, across all channels, internal & external and bring in for the session Bring in examples of communications used for a recent moderate to high-impact change initiative in your business and be ready to discuss Goals  Determine the attributes and characteristics of simple, consistent, and honest communication Evaluate the quality of the participants’ current communication and branding efforts Establish a firm understanding of how simple, consistent, and honest communication and branding support efforts for driving high levels of engagement, at all levels Discuss how this discussion transitions into the next foundational aspect of driving engagement - Goals and Measures Session #3 - Goals & Measures - Inspect What You Expect, Align To Your Values July 11, 2019 8:30am - 10:30am Regardless of how complicated or basic your business is, it is very easy for your goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to become misaligned to your business values.  Quantity and quality are both critical factors, and ensuring that you are measuring and rewarding performance in a fair and consistent manner, and in a way that is aligned to your values, can drive healthy competition and strong aspects of fairness and equity in your organization.   Prework For Participants  Come ready to share and discuss your businesses key performance indicators (KPIs) and their alignment to the mission, vision & values of the business. Bring a breakdown of core products & services, quality expectations, and an overview of their business’ performance review and assessment process Goals  Determine the attributes and characteristics of value-aligned goals and measures Evaluate the quality of the participants’ goals, measures, performance management & assessment processes in light of their individual business product and service inventory, operating culture, and competition Establish a firm understanding of how goals, measures & effective alignment to values, assists with establishing culture and values in the workplace and how this creates the necessary foundation for driving high levels of engagement, at all levels Discuss how this discussion transitions into the next foundational aspect of driving engagement - Reward & Recognition Session #4 - Rewards & Recognition - The Importance Defining The “How” Behind The “What” July 25, 2019 8:30am - 10:30am Name any task, and it’s highly likely that there are multiple ways to get from start to finish.  Do the same exercise with the services your business provides or the products that it produces, and you’ll more than likely discover the same thing; there are multiple ways to get things done, and many of them would fall into the category of “not a good way to do it”!  Add in the team dynamics of your organization, and it becomes even more critical that business leaders take a good, long look at “how” things are getting done in their business. Prework For Participants  Come ready to share and discuss their businesses’ key performance indicators (KPIs) and how those outputs are impacted by the method in which they are being done Have a good understanding of how the “how” is being assessed in their current performance management and assessment processes Goals  Determine the attributes and characteristics of a value-aligned reward and recognition process Evaluate the quality of the participants’ reward and recognition and assessment processes in light of their individual business product and service inventory, operating culture, and competition Establish a firm understanding of how the “how” in your reward & recognition and assessment processes assists with establishing culture and values in the workplace and how this creates the necessary foundation for driving high levels of engagement Discuss how this discussion transitions into the next foundational aspect of driving engagement - Leadership & The People Who Do It Session #5 - Leadership Matters - Managing, Leading, Inspiring, & The People Who Do it August 8, 2019 8:30am - 10:30am Regardless of whether it’s a team lead, a line supervisor, a shift manager or a C-Suite officer, who you have leading your teams is a major factor in your success towards creating a positive and engaging work environment.  The skills and characteristics that make a successful team member are very different from the ones that make a strong leader, and even with the best of intentions, leaders who focus more on managing versus leading and inspiring can quickly counteract your efforts to build a highly engaged workforce in your business. Prework For Participants  Come ready to share and discuss your businesses organizational structure, with a focus on leadership alignment to staff and business functions Assess the quality of your current leadership in light of current progress and initiatives that are being run in your business Goals  Understand the difference between managing & leading.  Both are necessary, but sometimes the wrong tool is used when the other would be more effective Evaluate the quality of the participants’ leadership structure, skills, and characteristics of their current leaders, and whether or not their is sufficient succession planning and awareness in the business to best position the organization for success Ensure a solid understanding of the importance of leadership effectiveness, succession planning, and ongoing development with your leadership team assists with establishing culture and values in the workplace and how this creates the necessary foundation for driving high levels of engagement
