A Day In The Life Employment & HR Workshop Series. July Workshop

The fourth in this series of our ‘A Day in the Life’ Employment and HR workshops. This monthly workshop series will build on the range of Employment Law topics covered so far, providing greater focus on the specific issues and areas which cause employers concern whilst retaining the practical case studies and question and answer sessions which are a key feature of a ‘A Day in the Life’. This time around we will be inviting colleagues and external speakers with a particular insight on the topic in question to add real-life context to the sessions. The ‘A Day in the Life’ workshops take place at our Teesside office every fourth Tuesday of the month between 8.15am and 9.45am. The topics for the first three sessions have been decided and we will confirm the future topics three months in advance although, as with the sessions themselves, participation is encouraged and are happy to cover any topics which would be of particular interest to businesses. Tuesday 25 June 2019 - Workplace mediation in disciplinary and grievance proceedings Tuesday 23rd July 2019 - GDPR - Data Protection in the workplace Tuesday 27th August 2019 - Topic to be confirmed All of our A Day in the Life workshops are CPD accredited and free to attend. Please note places are limited to 2 per company.

Assist welcomes you to a Dinner Debate with Jude Kirton-Darling MEP We would like to invite you as we continue with ‘Our Voice’ and enjoy a two course lunch with Jude Kirton-Darling MEP and lets get some planning in place on how we collectively can press for action. Let's Engage - Explore - Empower what do you think is of general, local or national importance.  We want you to become a member of Our Voice.  We want to hear you. Want to know more... What is Our Voice?    Assist is more than a women's networking, we have a mission to encourage Tees Valley women to understand the UK parliamentry system and become a little more active in using OUR VOICE!  We have the support of those that know.... "Parliament is a vital part of our democracy" and we should not waste our vote, we MUST use our voice and look at the work of Government and hold it to account. You will know many women have campaigned, used petitions and lobbyed to have laws change - many with recent success that have hit the news!   Our Voice year one created our own success stories here in the Tees Valley with some of our Assist members now very much women in politics and with influence!   Are there enough women at the table?  Are women unrepresented?  Find out why this is important and how you can influence the UK Parliament and get YOUR voice heard.   What does the future hold... Become a part of or lead on a cluster group, be active in having a voice on UK matters!  May be start a campaign about something close to your heart? In contrast some say why bother, it is not a priority to their daily life!  Our question is - do you understand how national decisions affect you?  How can you, as part of a group influence and create change by getting YOUR voice heard while engaging with MP’s, councillors, the Houses, Select Committees and other campaigners?  We may find we are backing you with the #AskHerToStand #5050Parliament campaigns as we did with our other successful women in the recent elections. Who is Jude Kirton-Darling MEP... Jude is a member of the European Parliament international trade committee, petitions committee, and industry, research and energy committee. Jude grew up in Middlesbrough, and is passionate about the city, the local region, its social and industrial heritage and future. Jude led Europe’s steelworkers unions in negotiations with employers and the European institutions, taking up the job at the European Metalworkers’ Federation in 2008. She also provided support to One North East to help ensure a future for steelworkers in Teesside at a time when unions were campaigning hard to Save Our Steel. Find out more..... https://www.facebook.com/Jude4thenorthEast  Why come and have lunch with Jude and Our Voice?  Hear about why Jude chose to jump in to the political arena.  Find out what is like in this present climate of politics.  Find out what Jude's aspirations are to use 'HER VOICE' and bring change for women in the Tees Valley.  Share your views over lunch with likeminded women.   What to expect... Arrival time at from 12.00 noon for informal 'Our Voice' conversation Sit down for a two course lunch* at 12.30 with Jude Kirton-Darling MEP    2.00 Q&A and debate topic discussion in an informal networking setting, how can you be involved in 'Our Voice'  Session closes at 2.30, however the venue is available non-exclusively for continued discussion if you want to stay How to connect with Assist... To join in the conversation we'd love to hear from you and in particular any ideas on how to shape ‘Our Voice’ and future Dinner Debates, we are giving you the opportunity to be a part of the plan of action.  We ran a number of Parliament Outreach workshops, dinner debates, visits from MP’s and campaigners with a little on the history that covers women’s suffrage.  We had a visit or two to Westminster.  If there is demand and upon request we could run these again.  *Please inform us of any special dietry requirements upon booking **Please be aware we have been warned that often an MPs & MEPs diary can change at last minute with things that are out of their control.
