The Perth 100: Central Networking

The Perth 100 came about to enable individuals, businesses, and representatives of businesses to come together, chat, share and learn in an informal setting. The plan is to not be too formal (get that tie off..) but for it to remain professional. There will be talks from visiting speakers and plenty of opportunities for you to share your business cards while at the same time learning about other people's businesses.

KYTHE Big Bike Revival

What is the Big Bike Revival? Well, Around 42% of people in the UK own bikes but don’t ever use them. It might be because the bike has a flat tyre and you have no idea how to repair it. Or maybe it’s because you feel you’re lacking the skills or knowledge to ride safely. The Big Bike Revival is all about overcoming those little barriers and to help you feel more confident about cycling. And around 9,000 people started cycling more regularly after taking part in a Big Bike Revival event, meaning more journeys were made by bike and people felt safer cycling, while improving their health, happiness and wellbeing.

Qikiqtaruk – The Vanishing Island

Qikiqtaruk is an Arctic island off the north coast of the Yukon Territory in Canada. With a rich cultural and natural heritage, this territorial park is home to wildlife such as whales, seals, caribou, polar and grizzly bears, snowy owls, and much more. However, their habitats are changing rapidly due to climate change: ecological monitoring reveals that vegetation composition is shifting towards taller, woody plants, and ground that has been frozen for millennia is thawing, leading to collapses of the coast into the sea. Perhaps nowhere else on Earth are the consequences of climate change so obvious than in the Arctic, but they are largely happening out of sight. Sandra Angers-Blondin is an ecologist and photographer, and will share stories and images of eight years working in the tundra. As the recipient of last year’s Environmental Awareness Bursary from the Royal Photographic Society, she spent a month visually documenting the natural environment of Qikiqtaruk, to bring attention to changes happening at the top of the world, and share the beauty of a world that few people get to see.
