Film evening at Prestwick St Nicholas 18th July - 'Tommy's Honour'

To support the 'Pioneers of the Past Golf Challenge' which takes place on the 25th July and is organised by the Tommy's Honour Education Trust, Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club will be screening the BASA Award-winning 'Tommy's Honour' for members and guests to help raise awareness of, and donations to, the Charity. The film is the story of St Nicholas member Old Tom Morris and his son, Tommy, and the challenges they faced in Victorian Britain. Social class and knowing your place in society was ingrained, but to someone like Young Tommy Morris it was a barrier to be broken and a catalyst for him to choose his own path in life. The Tommy's Honour Education Trust helps educate children in Primary schools by empowering them with the knowledge about those life-skills which the early Scottish golfing pioneers developed in order to help them make their own way. It's Learn from the Legacy Programme teaches the children the key attributes of golf etiquette in a fun and interactive way, inspiring them to use these tools to become better and more valuable members of society. By indicating your intention to attend, and how many, it will help the Club decide on possible catering for the evening. As it is a Charity fundraising evening, the 8 larger high-backed chairs will be set in the back row opposite the screen. Like the Odeon, these larger comfy seats will be the best in the house and are available each for a £5 donation to the Charity and will include a bag of popcorn. Thank you.

Netwalking Scotland (West) - Neilston Pad

Netwalking Scotland - networking for business "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than they seek." John Muir Escape the office at the end of the week and join us to walk, talk and network along the path to Neilston Pad, for another netwalk. It's the perfect opportunity to make new connections, share ideas around different business ventures and draw inspiration from nature with the added bonus of getting some fresh air & exercise and (hopefully) great views across to Glasgow. A different concept in business development, it's basically just networking in the great outdoors. Talking with like-minded, energising businesspeople in an informal, fun - and healthy - context. Then, after you have exercised and earned it, you can stick around for coffee and cake at the Bank Cafe in the village afterwards. This netwalk will take place on Friday 19th July in the village of Neilston, 25 minutes drive southwest of Glasgow. We'll meet at the railway station and introduce ourselves to start with. There will be a dedicated theme with a series of questions to encourage conversation between netwalkers and explore different aspects of your business ventures. We'll pair off initially and then change the pairings as we go round the walk so you get to share ideas with several people. When we return to the station we can then retire to a local hostelry for a well -earned drink.Tickets will be capped at 20 to make for a more manageable walk so sign up quickly to secure your place. Netwalkers will meet at the entrance to Neilston Railway station (G78 3DY) at 1400 to walk, talk and network briefly on the road to Neilston Pad and then along the tracks to its base before the climb up,and over the top.The 4km route will take just over an hour and there is the opportunity to purchase your refreshments after the walk at a local cafe to reflect on your experience and continue conversations. The paths are okay and at this time of year we can expect them to be realtively free of muddy ;patches but boots are still advised to deal with some of the unevenness of the off-track climb in the middle. Please be aware that there will be photos taken during the event that might be used for future advertising purposes and we will let you know once a month when our next events are via email (we promise absolutely no spam!). If you don't want to be photographed or won't like to know about future netwalks please let us know. We look forward to walking, talking and networking with you in the great outdoors.  FAQs What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event? There is parking around the train station or there are regular trains to Neilston from Glasgow Central What can I bring into the event? Be sensible and bring adequate clothing to deal with the weather. You might also want a water bottle, or camera to record the views from the top How can I contact the organiser with any questions? Email Nick at [email protected]

Neilston Station
Station Road Neilston
