The Beacon bar & restuarant

A bit out-of-the-way just off the A264 near Rusthall. Worth a visit just for the views across the Weald to the Ashdown Forest beyond. The house dates from 1895 and was built as the country home of Sir Walter Harris, a former Lieutenant of the City of London. It has a wealth of architectural features including some particularly fine stained glass windows and an oak-panelled bar.
