Hello, I'm Ying, the hands and heart behind Batik YING, where I breathe new life into the traditional art of batik through contemporary design.

Rooted in my Malaysian heritage, my creative journey began with the influence of the women artisans I grew up around, women who passed down the intricate, soulful craft of batik through generations. Surrounded by vibrant colours, bold patterns, and the stories woven into each piece, I developed a deep connection to this cultural art form.

Today, I fuse traditional wax-resist dyeing techniques with a modern aesthetic to create handcrafted batik art and home accessories that honour the past while speaking to the present. Every piece I design carries a sense of legacy, artistry, and innovation; a celebration of cultural roots reimagined for the contemporary world.

Beyond my own work, I’m passionate about sharing the magic of batik. Through hands-on workshops, creative events, and DIY craft kits, I aim to make this beautiful tradition accessible to all, from curious beginners to the next generation of makers.
