Rhytidectomy, a surgical treatment generally called a facelift, includes the removal of excess facial fat, the tightening of facial muscles, and the trimming or redraping of facial pores and skin to approximate a smoother, firmer facial look. In the rhytidectomy procedure the tissues under the skin are tightened and excess facial and neck skin are excised.
