Timothy Gordon hails from Wellington, New Zealand and first studied dance in Sydney with Joan and Monica Halliday. He graduated from the Australian Ballet School and joined the Australian Ballet directed by Marilyn Jones OBE from 1979 to 1981. In 1982, Gordon guested with the Sydney City Ballet and later that year joined the Nederlands Dans Theater with the director/choreographer, Jiri Kylian at it's helm. He joined William Forsythe's Ballet Frankfurt as a soloist in 1984, later becoming a ballet
